We are asking you to join with us in asking God for wisdom in some decisions we need to make over the next week. We met with the oncologist on Thursday and he laid out the options for chemotherapy. We need to decide which of the three treatments we wish to pursue. Please pray for us to have wisdom in making this decision.

Also, there is an ongoing issue with the University of Iowa Hospital regarding our insurance coverage. (They are a provider for our insurance but are refusing to bill or accept payment from our insurance company.) It is a complicated situation. Several people are working to resolve this. If this cannot be resolved this next week, we will need to transfer our care to Des Moines. That will mean starting over with a new oncologist as well as four hour round trips for doctor’s visits, chemo, other medications and exams, as well as needing to be hospitalized in Des Moines for any complications. This would be quite disruptive to the family. Obviously, our preference would be to remain in Ottumwa for treatment. Please pray for those working on resolving this issue to have wisdom in knowing the next steps to take and pray for us to know at what point we need to pursue treatment in Des Moines.

Athena will be having outpatient surgery on Monday at 1pm to have the port placed for chemotherapy. We continue to see God’s hand at work in our own lives and in the care Athena has been receiving. We have appreciated all of the phone calls, e-mails and cards sharing words of encouragement and assurance of prayer. It is overwhelming to know that people from all around the world are praying for us.

Some exciting news to leave you with – Jessica will be baptized tomorrow evening. She made a profession of faith about a year and a half ago. God has continued to bring new people to partner with us. The total amount of monthly support we still need to raise before returning to Brazil is down to $907. We are continually amazed at how God provides for our needs.
