June prayer letter from Charlie Smith

The month is almost over and we are amazed in how sweet God has been to us. Surely we can repeat the truths the psalmist stated in: Psalm 31:19, “Oh how great is thy goodness, which thou hast laid up for them that fear thee; which thou hast wrought for them that trust in thee before the sons of men!” Psalm 139:17, “How precious also are thy thoughts unto me, O God! how great is the sum of them!” Psalm 145:3, “Great is the LORD, and greatly to be praised; and His greatness is unsearchable.”
We wish to thank you for all your prayers for my health. The appointment with the kidney doctor resulted in him telling us that the kidney function has leveled off and most likely I will not need a kidney transplant for a few years. The doctor is a Christian and he is praising the Lord with us. Please continue to pray, as I will need to have periodic blood tests to check the kidney function. It is our prayer that the kidneys be healed completely, but even more we pray God be glorified, Phillipians 1:20.
The Lord has given us safety on the roads as we traveled to Wisconsin and Michigan to visit some churches, as well as visiting our children and grand hildren. We were amazed that seven years have come and gone since the whole family could be together! We hope the Lord will provide some more time to be with both sets before we return to Argentina. No wonder when the person who first tried to clarify what his children’s children should be called he just said “grand”.
On our travels this last week we were in Manitou Springs with my older brother and his sweet wife Cheri. We enjoy going to Timberline Baptist each time we visit that area and it was a good time of fellowship. The secretary at Timberline, Joanna, and Cheri are both diagnosed with terminal cancer. So we ask for your prayers for these two women. Cheri is using some medically accepted treatment that has improved her cancer. My wife, JoAnn, asked Cheri to talk to Joanna knowing that Joanna will witness. The major difference between these two ladies is that Joanna has heaven to gain and Cheri does not. Please keep them in your prayers.
Other prayer requests are similar to yours. Mr. Dalstrom and Mrs. Moore, both precious saints in their latter years in Casper, are waiting to see their Saviour. Please pray that God would give them and their families grace. The health of JoAnn’s parents is declining and they need to sell their home to move into an assisted living facility; more importantly is their need for Christ. Also pray for VBS as it is coming too quickly (July 8-12).
JoAnn and I wish to thank you for all your prayers for the ministry at Iglesia Bautista Libertad in Buenos Aires. We are overwhelmed by the different pastors in the province who have sacrificed taking turns to preach and teach each Sunday at IBL. We praise God that He answered a long time prayer for Britley. This past Sunday she accepted Christ as her personal Saviour! There have been years of planting and watering, 1 Corinthians 3:6.
Our plans are to return to Argentina in or before the spring of 2014. We hope to see each of you before that time. I will be calling hoping to arrange a set date for your mission’s conference or other meeting to be Biblically accountable. If you wish a specific date
please contact me as soon as possible.
“Ye also helping together by prayer for us, that for the gift bestowed upon us by the means of many persons thanks may be given by many on our behalf.” 2 Corinthians 1:11.
