Dear Trinity Baptist Church Family, Have you been betrayed? Have you ever been hurt by someone who was close to you? Has someone taken advantage of their relationship with you to do you great harm? I think most of us will answer “yes” to these questions. We are in good company. Listen to King David: Psalm 55:12-14 For it is not an enemy who reproaches me; then I could bear it. Nor is it one who hates me who has exalted himself against me; then I could hide from him. 13 But it was you, a man my equal, my companion and my acquaintance. 14 We took sweet counsel together, and walked to the house of God in the throng. We believe David is referring to Ahithophel, David’s counselor who joined the rebellion of Absalom. David was greatly pained when he learned that Ahithophel had joined Absalom. He prayed “O Lord, I pray, turn the counsel of Ahithophel into foolishness.” Jesus was also betrayed by a “friend” with a kiss. So, find your confidence in God. Be encouraged by the presence of God’s Spirit. Know that humans will always disappoint you, but Jesus never will leave you.
Today is TBS auction day. Go to biddingowl.com, log in, and find the featured auction for Trinity Baptist School. Then bid away. Last I looked there were 155 items. Pastor Shaeffer has said there will be computers available tonight for those needing help with bidding. Tonight at 7:00 p.m. the Bidding Owl auction will cease and about 25 items will then be transferred to “live auction status.” Walking Tacos and other goodies will be available after 5:00 p.m. Bring your family for a fun evening. It’s going to be too wet outside anyway!
I visited Deloris and Jean on Wednesday. Deloris will be at Harbor Haven for at least two weeks. She is working hard to gain strength and prepare for going home with a leg in a cast. Jean had an issue with her blood sugar this week that caused great concern. Pray for the doctors to know how to help her heart to be strengthened.
I read in a report from Scott Jones that Tim and Luda S are in Poland helping with refugees from Ukraine. Pray for their safety and strength. Continue to pray for the church in Ukraine to be protected and to glorify God in their time of great need.
Lin and I leave on Saturday morning for a 7 day vacation. Tony, Beth, and co. are also traveling next week. Pray for our safety.
Pastor Shaeffer is in a great passage of Luke 14 on Sunday morning. What does it mean to you to be a disciple of Jesus? We have choir practice Sunday afternoon at 5:00 p.m. and then Pastor Shaeffer will return to Luke in the evening service.
Pray that God’s Word be exalted among us. Pray for salvation of those who are lost in sin. Pray for the sanctification of our Congregation. Praise God for His goodness to you.
Embracing Truth, Pastor
