WHO (WHO HAS TOUCHED MY LIFE RECENTLY?)
I’d like to introduce you to a young girl in the church I attend. Her name is Cecilia and we sat together during one service. I asked her a few questions and she then proceeded to tell me that I was her new friend. I liked that very much. She always gives good hugs at church! I am getting to know some of the people in the church here in Santa Cruz. A few I already knew from visiting Rene, but most are new faces for me. My desire is to be a blessing!
WHAT (WHAT AM I DOING?)
Tomorrow, I will be starting the second set of organizational projects. All of the materials in this project have something to do with the Bible. There are lessons, in both English and Spanish. There are a million and one visuals (maybe just a tad exaggerated, but not by much) and all kinds of ideas for future lessons.
WHEN (WHEN WILL I TRAVEL NEXT?)
I had hoped to travel to Vallegrande by now, but it looks like I may not be able to make that trip until sometime in February. (January is full of youth camps as everyone is on summer break.) Rene and Rafahel are taking the older girls from Megumi and will be in Sucre for about 9 days for a youth camp run there. The missionary that runs the camp (Malcolm Gregory) always does an excellent job. Please pray that hearts will be challenged to follow Christ completely. I would also like to travel to Cochabamba sometime in the near future to talk with a close friend of mine who would like to coordinate a project that would benefit the Deaf school she is running. Hopefully both of these visits will be beneficial to my future work here in Bolivia.
WHERE (WHERE WILL I SPEND NEW YEAR’S EVE?)
I will be right here in Santa Cruz! This brings back memories of the last time I was in Bolivia for New Year’s Eve. Bro. Jake Weibe preached a wonderful sermon about what we should change in 2010. God spoke greatly to my heart that night and I remember thinking (and telling Bro. Jake later) that I did not want to change anything, but I did want God to change me. I did not know at the time what that would mean, but I am indeed thankful for all that God has done in my life since that sermon. God is faithful!
WHY (WHY AM I ENJOYING SANTA CRUZ?)
I have to admit that I do not care much for the heat here, but I am enjoying getting to know the girls from the Megumi Home. Celia, at left, and Mariana are just two of the 14 girls that call my daughter, “Mom.” I guess that means that I am grandmother to 15!ABIGAIL MOMENT (FOR THOSE OF YOU WHO ARE GRANDPARENTS!)
I have now watched parts of ‘Space Chimps’ 12 times! Actually Abigail has watched it in my room as I have worked on the computer. Makes for some nice background noise!
HUMILITY 101
As most of you know me, you know my fashion sense isn’t always the best. But even this time, I outdid myself. One day, without realizing it, I put my t-shirt on with the tag on the outside. I walked around like this most of the day and my son-in-law never said a word. I then went to the Megumi home next door, and was immediately asked why I was wearing my clothes in this manner. (Was I trying to copy a new fad?)
When I asked Rafahel why he did not
tell me earlier, he told me that he thought my t-shirt must be dirty and that’s why I was wearing it that way. Bless his heart! (We do have a washing machine, in case you are
wondering!)
QUOTE FOR THE WEEK:
“We spend January 1 walking through our lives, room by room, drawing up a list of work to be done, cracks to be patched. Maybe this year, to balance the list, we ought to walk through the rooms of our lives… not looking for flaws, but for potential.” ~Ellen Goodman (We all have great potential in Jesus!)
Have a great week as we begin the New Year for Christ!
