Bible college visits

On Thursday Rory and I traveled to Watertown to visit the campus of Maranatha Baptist Bible College. On Monday I traveled to Dunbar and was on the campus of Northland International University. Both visits had similar agendas and results. At both campuses we heard the President give us and the other pastors in attendance a brief report on the state of the college. Both stressed the uniqueness of their own college. On both campuses we were able to meet and renew relationships with pastors and college staff. On both campuses we spent time with students we know – some of whom attend or have attended Trinity Baptist.

Both colleges are down in attendance. Though there are other factors the struggling American employment situation coupled with the continued increase in college costs seem to be the biggest reasons.

At both colleges I felt like we belonged. Though these colleges differ in personality, their doctrine and mission statements overlap greatly. Both colleges are good places for young people to go for a good education and training in Christian leadership. Both colleges are para-church institutions from which Trinity Baptist will continue to benefit.
