Missionary report from Carolyn Price

First, I want to thank everyone for all of your prayers for the orphanage Megumi. Almost every day, I receive an email letting me know that prayers are being lifted up on Megumi’s behalf. My daughter has been very touched by all the outpouring of love and support, and she has asked me to thank you.
It has been interesting to see how God is at work. One of Rene’s classmates is a Christian and told her pastor and church about Megumi. Her friend asked for pictures of the girls and so Rene and I made up a PowerPoint for them as they are interested in doing something for the home. On Saturday, her classmate, along with some of the ladies from her church, visited the home. One of the ladies just happens to be a social worker, too! This same lady just happens to work in the mayor’s office. She, also, just happens to know the women who visited the home before. (Aren’t you glad that there are really no “just happens” when God is in control?) Anyway, Rene was told not to worry. She knows these ladies and they are problematic and cause consternation everywhere they go. She is going to help Rene, perhaps with a future project even. She also told Rene that as soon as she met the girls and saw their interaction, it was VERY OBVIOUS that there is no abuse of any kind. She made the comment that what she saw is like night and day from how other girls in other orphanages react. Rene was very encouraged. So, once again, thank you for praying and thereby being a blessing to us.
This week, I will be doing the last minute preparations for the upcoming course in June. Pastor Orlando told me two days ago, when he picked up the student’s handbook for printing, that I will have 12 students. There is a wealth of material, so I will need to choose wisely the areas I feel are most needed as we will only have a week together. Much will depend on the first day as I meet the students. Please pray that I will have wisdom in teaching and that God would have His hand on both the teacher and students. Pastor Orlando also told me that the students are all new Christians, so this class will hopefully lay a foundation that will affect their future service as they prepare to be teachers of His Word. Dates: June 2-7. I will be staying with Pastor Orlando and his family as his church is quite a distance from where I live.
On June 23-27, I’ll be teaching the same course in another church here in Santa Cruz. They have also asked that I teach some Sign Language as they have a Deaf man that attends their church. Two weeks ago, Cynthia spent 4 days with me. She was here working on a new Bolivian Sign Language book. I was afraid that I had forgotten what I had worked so hard to learn. While, I did stumble a bit, Cynthia assured me that I haven’t forgotten as much as I feared and we were able to communicate just fine. (It was a delight to have her with me!) I talked with the Deaf pastor here in Santa Cruz and I will be teaching some basics. If they want to further their Sign Language, Rodolfo may be able to help. Time will tell.
Well, that is all for now.
God bless each and every one!
Carolyn
Quote for the Week: “The colored sunsets and starry heavens, the beautiful mountains and the shining seas, the fragrant woods and painted flowers, are not half so beautiful as a soul that is serving Jesus out of love, in the wear and tear of common unpoetic life.” Faber
