Lloyd and Athena Peace – April 11, 2012

Thank you for praying with us about Athena’s cancer and for us to know the next steps to take. What an encouragement to know God is with us with each step we take. Since our last prayer letter, Athena has had a double mastectomy; a port placed, and started chemotherapy. Currently, she receives chemo every other week for another month. When that finishes, she will receive chemo weekly for 12 weeks. What a blessing to have an oncologist who is a believer. She has said that once the chemo is finished and Athena has some time to recuperate from its effects, that there is no problem in us returning to Brazil. She has even offered to maintain contact with us once we are back in Brazil as far as letting us know which exams we should be keeping up with as well as answering any questions or concerns we may have. God is so good! We anticipate being able to return in early 2013, but it will depend upon God’s perfect timing.

Support Update
We are excited at how God is working to meet this need. We currently have 34 churches and 37 individuals who are part of our support team. We are still lacking $769 in monthly support, but are confident that God will provide for this need before we return to Brazil. Please continue to pray with us about this. A couple of people have recently asked if individual donors have to give a set minimum amount in order to become part of a missionary’s monthly support team. The answer to that is no. Each gift is important.

If you are interested in joining our support team, you can sign up online at http://www.abwe.org/give . Our account number is 0131663. We can also mail you an intention to support form that can be filled out and mailed in to ABWE. If you have any questions, please feel free to contact us. Our current contact information is at the top of this letter.

Amazon Update
We have been so excited to hear how God is working at SEBBET, the Bible institute in Betânia. Our coworker, David, has had new students each week since classes resumed in March. This past week, there were 47 students between the morning and afternoon classes. He has two young men from Santo Antônio who are helping him by leading songs and taking attendance. His goal is for this to be a hands on opportunity for training them for ministry. Please continue to pray for the Ticuna Bible translation project being carried out by missionaries with another organization. They have poured their lives into this translation project.

Please continue to pray for the teen ministry in Santo Antônio. As always, there are those who are making good, godly choices in their lives, and then there are those who are not. We are thankful that God has allowed us to still be involved in the lives of quite a few of these teens through Facebook, messaging, and by phone.

Pray also for the congregation in Amaturá. I spoke with one of the men who had been leading the church today. He related that things at the church in Amaturá are going well. They are still without a pastor, but have help from two men from the church in Benjamin Constant. One helps with music, the other with studies. The pastor from Benjamin, who I grew up with, visits once in awhile to be an encouragement to the congregation. Please pray with them for a pastor.

Airplane/Hangar Update
Praise God that all of the money for the airplane has been raised. We are lacking just $4,500 for the hangar. Our worker, Dr. Phillips, knows a Brazilian engineer who is drawing up plans for this building. This building will need to be completed before the plane is bought so there is a safe place to store it. Donations for this project can be sent to account #0131663-007 (Lloyd Peace aviation) at ABWE, P.O. Box 8585, Harrisburg, PA 17105-8585. We are excited for the ministry opportunities that an airplane will bring.
